How long does battery replacement take?

The time required for a MacBook battery replacement can vary based on the specific model. At CompFix, we typically complete battery replacements within 1-2 business days. This timeframe includes diagnostics, battery installation, and thorough testing to ensure your MacBook is functioning properly with the new battery.

How much is the battery replacement?

The cost of a MacBook battery replacement can vary depending on the model and the service provider. At CompFix, our battery replacement services typically range from $150 to $350. This price includes the cost of the battery, professional installation, and thorough testing to ensure optimal performance.

Apple diagnosed a dead battery and offered to replace the entire top cover for $700. Is it possible to replace just the battery?

Yes, it is possible. By design, Apple built the latest Macbooks in a way that the battery is not customer-replaceable. It is glued to the casing so Apple and Apple authorized services are replacing the entire top case along with the Keyboard and TrackPad. Even though they do not offer this type of repair, we can replace just a battery without replacing the entire top case.

What should I do if my replaced MacBook battery isn't lasting as long as expected?

If your replaced MacBook battery isn’t lasting as long as expected, check for background processes or apps consuming excessive power, calibrate the battery, and ensure you’re using the latest macOS. A New Li-ion battery requires “charge-discharge” cycles.

How can I maximize the lifespan of my new MacBook battery?

To maximize your new MacBook battery’s lifespan, avoid keeping your MacBook plugged in constantly, allow the battery to drain occasionally, keep the operating system updated, and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures.

What do battery "charge-discharge" cycles mean?

New Li-ion batteries typically benefit from a few initial “charge-discharge” cycles to calibrate their capacity and optimize performance. This process involves fully charging the battery to 100% and then allowing it to discharge completely to 0% before recharging it fully again. Performing this cycle 2-3 times can help ensure the battery’s internal sensors accurately reflect its capacity, leading to more reliable performance and longevity. However, frequent deep discharges should be avoided to prevent unnecessary wear on the battery. For regular use, it’s best to keep the battery between 20% and 80% charged.

I bought a spare battery thinking I would replace it myself but found it difficult to do so, could you replace it for me if I bring the battery?

Certainly! In this case, the installation fee will be only $80, but please note that we are not responsible for the proper working condition of that battery.

What factors affect the lifespan of a replaced MacBook battery?

Factors such as usage intensity, charging habits, temperature exposure, and overall care can impact the lifespan of a replaced MacBook battery. Avoiding extreme temperatures and overcharging can help prolong battery life.

My MacBook has become somehow slow and unresponsive, I saw a warning about the battery, could this be the reason?

DEFINITELY! The battery, keyboard and trackpad are connected to the same power cycle system, and if one of these devices fails, it can cause the entire system to slow down or fail completely.

Is it normal for a new MacBook battery to degrade over time?

Yes, it’s normal for any battery, including a new MacBook battery, to degrade over time. Most batteries lose capacity after several hundred charge cycles, which is typical for lithium-ion batteries.

How long does a replaced MacBook battery typically last?

A replaced MacBook battery can typically last between 3 to 5 years, depending on usage patterns and maintenance.
